Last Sunday was the day of my ‘coffee and a card’-workshop featuring the Springrime Foils cardstock. The participants, though not great in number, they were in their enthousiasm, each made two cards.

Celebrate

First of all the Celebrate card. This is based on a card I came across on Pinterest. In my opinion the leaves-pattern was even better suited to it than the patterns used in the example. By just following the line of the branch with a pair of scissors you can create a natural wave. By adding a piece of Gold Foil Sheet underneath and a die cut of the word celebrate, from the Celebrat You Thinlits Dies, on the top, you’ve basically completed the card. Quick, simple and elegant. Suitable for birthdays, weddings or any kind of anniversary.

However, just this card would be too basic for a workshop, so there was a second card to recreate.

Happy Birthday

This card is also based on something I spotted on Pinterest which was just too pretty to ignore. I did have some tweeks to make it more my own. To start with, the colour combination. The Original was green but I love the Pool Party in combination with the silver. Using the mini inkblending tools, we gave the background an ombre-effect. Hereby we kept the colour more concentrated on the bottom and lighter at the top of the pannel. To darken it up a bit more, we used some Bermudat Bay on the very bottom. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Eclectic Expressions set, from the 2nd Sale-a-bration releas. The ribbon is from the Original Sale-a-bration release. It is in a set with Bermuda Bay and Calypso Coral Shimmer ribbon. This time, however, we used the Basic Gray Shimmer Ribbon. The whole thing is matted on a piece of Pool Party and Basic Gray cardstock and just like that, you have a classy, masculine, birthday card.

More cards

Considering I was no where near finshed playing with this paper, I went on to make a couple more cards with the Springtime Foils paper.

For this card I fussy cut several of the leafy branches to spread them around the card. Following the rule of three, the Springtime Foils leaves guide your eyes around the card. The extra layers of silver paper underneath the circle with the sentiment, give it a nice place to rest. By using the splatter stamp from the Eclectic Expressions set, I gave the background a bit more interest. Finally I just added a bit of bling from my stash to finish the card. This too is a reasonably simple card, however the fussy cutting took up too much time, to be suitable for a quick workshop.

I also wanted to play with my ink blending tools again to make the dotted background more festive. I used Calypso Coral, Pumkin Pie and Melon Mambo. The colours lost quite a bit of their intensity which made them match perfectly on a Peekabo Peech card base. On some Whisper White cardstock I stamped several party sqeakers in Crushed Curry, Peekaboo Peach, Berry Burst, Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie and Rich Razzleberry. The sentiment was initially stamped in Melon Mambo, but even after stamping it a second time it was not quite legable enough. I stamped it a third time in Berry Burst and now I was happy with it. I stuck the sqeakers down with some Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue and attached the pannel to the card with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.

What wonderful paper! You can do so much with it.
