Hello Peeps,

This time I was inspired by a colour combination from the ColorThrowdown challenge blog. The colours were bright blue, bright green and white (CDT460). An ideal colour combination for a boy celebrating his second birthday. I did have to struggle a little to find an interesting layout, but I really think this card worked out nicely.

I started by applying double-sided tissuetape to the back of a scrap piece of white paper and to four different pieces of green paper. This is so it would be easier to puzzle everything back together, after I diecut it using the Large Ringlets die by Memory Box. I removed the paper from the dies very carefully, trying to keep it all in tact as much as I could. Because the shape was quite large, I decided to cut away a few of the cirkels from the white outline. I proceded to stick the white outline to a white cardbase, using the outside (negative) shape to minimise the warping of the cirkels. Now it was merely a matter of puzzling the green circles into the outline, making sure no two of the same green paper are next to each other. From another piece of white paper I diecut the third smallest circle die from the CreaLies CLNestXXL nr.33 dieset. I stamped the crocodile from Wild For You on to it and used a black pen to give him a partyhat and a balloon. I coloured the image using Wild Wasabi and Pacific Point ink by Stampin’ Up and my waterbrush. From a scrap of blue paper I cut a bannerstrip on to which I stamped the sentiment happy birthday from the Happy Everything stampset by Lawn Fawn with VersaMark ink. I covered it with Super Fine Detail embossingpowder by Ranger in white and melted the powder. I tried out where to place it and cut it to size and gave it a flagged end. I attached the circle with the crocodile to the card using some foamtape as well as the sentiment.

All in all it is a reasonably simple card. Only the puzzling of the circles took some time. The result is pretty and those who have seen the card all ask the same thing: how did you do that background with the circles?

Should you have any questions, please leave them in the comment section below.

See you next time,
