Hello Peeps,

Not so long ago, I was browsing through my craft supplies. This was because I wanted to reacquaint myself with all the fun things I had, after my pregnancy stop. One of the things, which I really haven’t played with enough, was my Minc machine. It’s a kind of laminator by Heidi Swapp that you use to apply foil to different surfacees. The foil adheres to toner ink. There are lots of pre-printed products to which you can add the foil and the foil itself is also available in a rainbow of colours. And so this card was made, for my friends birthday

The starting point of this card was the sheet of papier with the triagle print from the Minc Paper Pad 370178. I ran this through my Minc machine, according to the instructions, to apply a layer of silver foil. Next I wanted some simple embellisments. The Crazy About You stamp set by Stampin’ Up and the matching Thinlits set Hello You were perfect. I stamped the flower twice in Calypso Coral ink by Stampin’ Up and once more in Blushing Bride ink by Stampin’ Up. The lighter flower was fussy cut with a little white border around the edge and the two darker ones were cut to a smaller size but also with a little white border. The leaves were stamped in Mint Macaron ink by Stampin’ Up and were alse fussy cut with a thin white border. I diecut the word happy from some Mint Macaron cardstock by Stampin’ Up once and another 3 times from some Crafter’s Companion Neenah Solar White. I glued the layers on top of one another using glossy accents in order to create a sturdy element. On a scrap piece of Calypso Coral cardstock by Stampin’ Up I stamped the word BIRTHDAY in VersaMark ink. I covered it with silver embossing powder by Rayher and melted it with my heattool. I cut the ends at an angle. To accentuate the silver, I cut a panel of Made by ME Metallic Paper in zilver to the same size as my Made by ME cardbase and attached the foiled piece to it at an angle. I cut off the overhanging excess and attached the flowers, leaves and words. Everything was adhered using glossy accents or foamtape in order to give it some more depth.

I think it turned out to me a very elegant card, for someone who I regard to be a very elegant lady. Playing with the metallics was a bit outside of my comfort zone. I easily get scared that it would be to bold, but I think this turned out quite tastefully. Besides, a little bling is fun. What do you think of metallics on cards? Too much or a must-have?

See you next time,

Leonie
