Hello Peeps,

Recently I was busy making a year plan. A handle for my blog and my other tasks as Stampin’ Up demonstrator, if you will. In doing so I came across a site listing all sorts of special days. Some of them were known to me. Others were completely new. It seems as if every disease, minority, occupation and kind of food has their own (inter)national holiday. It all went a bit too far for me. Still, I did pick a few that spoke to me, creatively. And that is how the cards in this article came to be.

Circles

On the 14th of  March (or 3.14 as the Americans would say) it is Pi-day. This of course beacuse the first digits of Pi are 3.14. My first association to Pi is circles And so I made these birthday cards in honour of Pi-day.

Card number 1

As I mentioned before in a different post, the Eclectic Expressions stamp set is a good, basic set. You can choose it as a free gift when you purchase for €60,- during Sale-a-bration. The pretty circles with theis watercolour effect represent the Pi-elements in this card. The colour combination was one I found on Pinterest:: Cajun Craze, Tangerine Tango, Pool Party and Bermuda Bay. By stamping the smaller images in the darker colours and using the lighter colours for the larger images, a beautiful balans is created. I stuck the stamped piece to a card base made from half of an A4 sheet of Tangerine Tango cardstock, folded in the middle, using some Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue. I used a sliver of Bermuda Bay cardstock to accentuate the contrast but chose to heat emboss the Happy Birthday sentiment on a piece of Pool Party cardstock. After melting the white embossing powder, I added some Tutti-frutti adhesive backed sequins in Pumpkin Pie and Pool Party to complete the festive look of this card.

Card number 2

This card was started by stamping the Happy Birthday sentiment in Tangerine Tango on to a piece of Whisper White cardstock. Using my MISTI, I stamped the sentiment above and below the orange version but now in Pool Party ink. Next I created the background by stamping several of the images from the Eclectic Expressions stamp set. By tying a piece of Bermyuda Bay Shimmer Ribbon around the cardstock, it started to look like a present.
The Shimmer Ribbon is another article you can choose during Sale-s-bration. The pack also contains Basic Gray ribbon (6.4 cm wide) and Calypso Coral ribbon (1 cm wide). The Bermuda Bay ribbon is 3.2 cm wide  You can find this product in the sale-a-bration brochure on page 9.
I glued the stamped element on to the Tangerine Tango cardbase. As a finishing touch I stuck on some Tutti-frutti adhesive backed sequins in Pumpkin Pie and Pool Party.

I think both cards turned out as fun and cheerful cards. I’m super excited about the stamp set and I can imagine lots of different opportunities to use it.

What is your favorite sale-a-bration product this year? I would love to read about it in the comment section below this blogpost.

See you next time,

Leonie
