Hello Peeps,

We’re almost half way through February and that means we’re also half way through the Sale-a-bration period. For those who aren’t familiar with Sale-a-bration, it is the best periode in the Stampin’ Up! year. The Spring/Summer catalogue had just launched and if that isn’t fun enough, there is a promotional period until March 31st during which you get to choose free items from the Sale-a-bration brochure when you spend €60 (or multiples of that amount). This year you get a choice of 6 different stamp sets when you spend €60 (one of which is also available in Dutch) or 1 stamp set when you spend €120. If you don’t want a stamp set, you could choose the wooden butterfly elements, beautiful Designer Series Paper, Foil Sheets of a card kit. The ribbons in the brochure have unfortunately been sold out already. In the €120 category there is also a framelits set that matches the Tea Together stamp set from the Srping/Summer catalogue. All in all there are plenty of reasons to get cracking on your wishlist.

Hello Cupcake

This week I’d like to share some cards I made with the Hello Cupcake stamp setl. This is one of the Sale-a-bration stamp sets and it was love at first sight. I love everything about this stamp set. The size of the cupcake is perfect regardsless of whether you want to create a card or a tag. The images are fun to stamp in a rainbow of colours but also gorgeous as a basic black impression which you can opt to colour. The sentiments are relevent to the images without being childish and the supporting images can be used in a variety of ways. For me, this was the number 1 choice of the Sale-a-bration brochure and I am far from done playing with it.

Black and white

For this first card, I stamped the cupcake image onto some Whisper White cardstock with some Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I went on to cut out the image with one of the round dies from the Layering Circle Framelits dies. Out of some Basic Black cardstock I cut the matching scalloped circle.so that it would have a nice contrast to the black and white dotted background paper. The dotted paper is from the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper pack and is one of the free choices with a €60 purchase. All of the papers have a colourfull A-side and a black and white B-side. I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of Whisper White which I cut off diagonally and matted on some Basic Black cardstock. A quick, simple card suited to both men and women alike.

Colourful paterns

When I held the Garden Impressions paper in my hands for the first time I felt overwhelmed by the bold colours. The sheets were intensly bright dispite the smaller 6″ x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm) size. I was rather intimidated but after playing with the different patterns, I feel confident in saying that this is really fun paper. For this card I used two different colours of patterned paper and matched the rest of the card to it. It is a lot calmer to the eye when you can only see a border.

Another way to break up the busyness is by splitting the patterns into smaller pieces. It is still a busy card but it isn’t overwhelming.

This card show a bit more. In the background I stamped a pattern with the smaller coordinating stamps. The Designer Series Paper brings the attention back to the middle of the card. The sentiment is stamped on some coloured cardstock because white would be too harsh. The cupcake itself is attached with some Dimensionals. To finish the card of I sprinkled on some sequins to tie everything together.

Masculine cupcake card

Just one more! Here I used the Tranquil Textures paper to determine the colour combination. You can see that is a nice masculine card dispite the bow and cupcake.
