Hello Peeps,

Today I’ll share the card I made for my niece. She just turned 15 so the card couldn’t be too childish. I hope she liked it. In any case, I thought it was cute.

I started by cutting an A4-sized piece of Whisper White cardstock by Stampin’ Up in two. I used one of the halves to die cut the base of the box and the in between bit out of twice, using the Scalloped Box Card Pop-Up dies. I stamped all the images of the Happy Hippo’s set and the letters I, L, S and E and the numbers 1 and 5 from Quinn’s ABC’s and 123’s on the other half of the cardstock using VersaFine Onyx Black ink and my MISTI. Next I coloured all the images using a waterbrush and Stampin’ Up ink in the colours Smoky Slate, Tip Top Taupe, Strawberry Slush, Daffoldil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Pool Party and Pear Pizzazz. Then it was time to assemble the box. To do this I used my red line tape and my tim Holtz/Tonic scissors. That thing is ideal because it has a Teflon coating on the blades so nothing will stick to it. I decorated the box by adhering the differen elements using a dot roller or foamsquares. I did miss something on the front panel so I drew the line and flags with a black pen and coloured the flags in the same way I coloured all the other images. As a finishing touch I applied some Wink of Stella clear glitter to the frosting on the cupcakes, the partyhats, the ribbon on the gift, the balloons, the cake, the letters and numbers It doesn’t photograph well, but in real life it looks very pretty and subtle.

What kind of card would you send a teenager? Where do you draw the line between cute and childish?

I’d love to hear from you in the comment section below this post.

See you next time,

Leonie
